Gresford Athletic 2 Guilsfield 2

ADAM Jenkins saved Guilsfield a point as the Mid Wales side twice hit back at Clappers Lane.

With memories of the hosts infamous protest walk off when the sides met last season still fresh the contest once again proved a niggly affair.

The home side established a slender lead at the break with Jordan McCarter slotting home a 36th minute penalty following an infringement by Guils goalkeeper Mike Jones.

Guilsfield were much improved after the break and levelled with Aaron Edwards returning to haunt his former club by glancing home Jenkins’ free-kick on 52 minutes.

The Guils looked to push on but were instead undone 10 minutes later when a poor defensive header was seized upon by Jack Challoner who lashed past Jones from close range.

Guils manager Nathan Leonard rang the changes in a bid to galvanise his side who dominated the final quarter of the game.

With seconds remaining their pressure finally told with Chris Cathrall breaking down the right wing to feed Jenkins who kept his composure to slot home and ensure the Guils a deserved point.

GUILSFIELD: Jones, Bromley, Parry, Rogers (Lloyd), Ford, James, Clifton (Richards), Edwards, Blenkinsop, Jenkins, Cathrall.
