Maldwyn Harriers Athletics Club enjoyed a successful day at the North Wales Cross Country Championships in Corwen last weekend.

Mackenzie McCourt held off a strong challenge to take a second place in the under 11s girls race with clubmates Mya Bradley ending 14th and Chardonnay Morgan took 19th to secure a bronze medal for the team.

The Newtown club toasted glory in the under 11s boys race with Dewi Bradley marking his debut to lead from gun to tape with Ethan Horobin taking 18th spot and Samuel Lloyd ended 32nd.

Maddie Griffiths also won the under 13s girls race with Piper Lloyd enjoying a strong run to take 16th.

Harriers dominance was again highlighted with Callum Morgan and Aled Breeze taking first and second in the under 13s boys race.

Carys Breeze took 12th for the under 15 girls race with another gutsy performance.

Meanwhile Ollie Jones completed another stellar run to become North Wales under 15s boys champion ahead of Deiniol Owen in ninth which secured their team a bronze medal.

Carwyn Owen ran an excellent race to take third place in the under 17s boys race to complete a brilliant day for the club.

As well as the youngsters in action at Corwen there were 10 senior Harriers taking on the same course.

Caroline Morgan, Lizzie Cockle and Catherine Bradley ran for the ladies with Chris Copus in over 60s action while Clive Morgan, Martin Copus, Hefin Rowlands, Kevin Jones, Andrew Sherlock and Ifan Jones made up the team for the men.

Morgan ended the day the top Harrier finisher, crossing the line in third place in his age category.
