Cefn Druids 0 TNS 3

TNS strolled to a comfortable win at an Cefn Druids to close the gap at the top of the table.

With Barry Town United slumping to defeat the Saints ate into their advantage courtesy of an Aeron Edwards double and Ryan Brobbel strike.

Having been humiliated in the reserve fixture less than a week earlier the home side began brightly with a succession of corners only to be silenced with Brobbel drilling home on 15 minutes.

Five minutes later TNS doubled their lead with Danny Redmond breaching the home defence with a decisive pass for Edwards to race through and slot past an advancing Mike Jones.

Kurtis Byrne snapped a shot wide on 27 minutes as the Saints looked to repeat the Boxing Day massacre only for Druids to close ranks.

Byrne fired wide with 20 minutes remaining as the second-half petered out as a contest.

The Druids were galvanised after seeing strong penalty claims rejected after James Davies went down in the area under pressure from Redmond.

However with 13 minutes remaining Redmond’s deep free-kick was spectacular met on the back post by Edwards who steered home to complete his brace.

TNS could have added a late fourth only for substitute Greg Draper to force Jones into action with the points already in the bag and the title race well and truly on.

TNS: Harrison, Hudson, Cabango, Redmond, Spender, Routledge, Holland, Brobbel (Cieslewicz), Mullan, Edwards (Hmami), Byrne (Draper). Subs: Dutton, Nembhard, Lewis.
