THE Quartix Mid and North Powys Junior Football Winter League is back up and running.

The popular winter series of fixtures has revolutionised junior football in the region since its inception.

In the past the league had gone into hibernation in the winter and much of spring due to the poor state of pitches in the area.

However since the installation of a 3G pitch at Newtown Football Club’s Latham Park the Mid and North Powys Junior League has taken its fixtures to the state of the art facility.

It has ensured regular competition for the region’s youngsters and and end to the enforced mid season break.

Once again the league has been sponsored by Newtown based vehicle tracking specialists Quartix.

Organiser Paul Inns said: “It’s been a fantastic start to the Winter League with a total of 32 teams entered across age groups spanning from under 11, 12, 14 and 16 and approximately 240 young players enjoying their football each Saturday morning.

“Without the Winter League youngsters wouldn’t be able to enjoy football at this time of year, especially given the weather.”
