THE Machynlleth Pool League held a charity fundraising tournament at the town rugby club this month.

The Steve Bradbury Super Cup is held in memory of the late Steve Bradbury, a long serving player in the town pool league whose friends and team-mates sought to honour following his death in 2016.

Teams of three from across the region took part in the popular event with the Llandrindod Wells based trio of Jerry Adams, Martin Griffiths and Lee Davies beating the homegrown trio of Robert Griffiths, Scott Davies and Mark Gaskell in the final.

A plate competition was also held for sides eliminated in the first round of the cup and was won by Wendy Edwards of Machynlleth alongside Brian Johnson and Phil Hay of Corris Uchaf.

A total of £235 was raised for charity with all proceeds divided between the Machynlleth and District Nurses, Macmillan Cancer Care and Machynlleth Pool League, all foundations close to Steve’s heart.

Spokesman Arwel Owen said: “Congratulations to all the entrants who turned out for this annual tournament. It was a great day and, most importantly, funds were raised in memory of our friend.”
