Penrhyncoch 1 Buckley Town 1

PENRHYNCOCH suffered injury time heartache as newboys Buckley Town snatched a last gasp win at Cae Baker.

The Roosters remain without a win since September with defeat leaving Gari Lewis’ men facing a New Year battle to pull away from the relegation zone.

The driving and relentless rain ensured a testing afternoon for both sides.

The visiting Stags have enjoyed a solid start to life back in the second tier following promotion but arrived in Mid Wales with their four match losing run hanging over their heads.

Penrhyn found themselves under pressure for much of the first-half but the Stags failed to capitalise on the wind being in their favour as the home rearguard soaked up the pressure.

The Roosters could have led before the break only for ex-Aberystwyth Town midfielder Luke Sherbon to be denied by a goalline clearance after a sweeping break from the home side.

It was much the same after the break with veteran defender Sion James going close to breaking the deadlock only to head wide as the match looked destined to end in a stalemate.

However with just seconds remaining the visitors snatched an unlikely winner when Jake Roberts turned home from close range to spark wild celebrations among the travelling faithful and agony for Penrhyn.

PENRHYNCOCH: Jenkins, Mousley (C Davies 70), T Evans, S James, Foligno, O James, C Jones. Corbisiero, Shaw (Murfet 80), J Evans, Sherbon (Doherty 88).
