NEWTOWN beat title rivals Wrexham 22-17 to maintain their push for honours in the North East Wales Youth League.
Lewis Gorman and Glenn Williams tries for Town were cancelled out as the Wrexham side ran home three first-half tries to lead 17-10 at the break.
Town upped their game after the break with centre Jacob Davies intercepting a pass to break and cross for a try before Morgan Lewis surged forward to release Ryan Parry to win the game with a try at the death.
Meanwhile battling Builth Wells slipped to a 20-17 defeat at home to Blues Youth Championship leaders Ystrad Rhondda.
Two tries from Spencer Havard-Pratt and one from Iwan Mills with Ryan Jones converting was not enough for the Bulls whose indiscipline saw them reduced to 13 men for a spell in the second-half and was punished late on as Ystrad Rhondda underlined their class by edging victory late on.
