COBRA’S WRU Bowl adventure came to an end in the Rhondda mud with a 6-5 defeat at Penygraig.

The Meifod side faced a trip into the unknown with the Swalec Division Three East Central A side playing host on a wet and windy day in the South Wales valleys.

Conditions soon descended into swamp like conditions with Penygraig leading through a penalty from Owen Davies in a tight game between two well matched sides.

However COBRA built up possession and following a spell of sustained pressure a try from scrum-half Bryn Davies saw the Mid Wales side establish a slender interval lead.

COBRA defended under siege after the break while driving ran and wind ensured they were on the back foot for most of the half with the elements in their face.

However COBRA looked to have seen out the contest when man of the match Davies kicked a second penalty from 40 metres in the dying seconds as Penygraig hit back at the last and end Mid Wales interest in this season’s WRU Bowl as COBRA headed home defeated.
