Welsh National League

Premier Division

Chirk AAA 1

FC Queens Park 4

In WHAT was a tough fixture for Chirk against one of the league’s high-flying sides, the hosts were humbled after an impressive display by the visiting Queens Park side.

The visitors took the lead in the first half and continued to dominate in the second half with a trio of goals putting them out of reach for the Colliers.

A late consolation goal was all Chirk could manage in response.

An open game for the first 30 minutes saw an evenly contested battle between the two sides, before Queens Park managed to put themselves ahead.

Aled Powell opened the scoring with what would be the first of four for his side on the afternoon.

Chirk were able to prevent their opponents from finding the net again before the break.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first, with both sides coming out looking for an important goal.

It was Queens Park who found the net again after an hour of play when Dan Roberts doubled their sides lead making it 2-0.

With Roberts’ goal giving his side the confidence to push on for more goals, they were soon 3-1 up, before Tony Jones’ strike put the game to bed.

Before the final whistle, Chirk pulled a goal back through Louie Middlehurst who slotted home a penalty to make the final score 4-1.

Chirk will be hoping to get back to winning ways in another difficult fixture when they face Mold Alexandra at home on Saturday, December 15.

Reserves Division

FC Queens Park 3

Chirk AAA 1

It WAS a similar afternoon for Chirk’s reserves on Saturday as they suffered a defeat at the hands of Queens Park’s reserves side.

Chirk lost to the side that have managed just two wins in the league so far this season, and sit one place above the foot of the table.

Goals from Adam Roberts, Harry Gregory and Sean Skimmings for the hosts proved too much for Chirk who could only respond with a goal through Jordan Owen.

Chirk reserves also have a tough fixture this weekend when they travel to face second-placed Cefn Druids.
