RHYS Handel has retained his Welsh Closed Championships title.
The talented 11 year old Welshpool High School student rounded off a busy year of competitive judo with an outstanding display, winning all four fightss at the Welsh Closed Championships to take home gold for the second year running.
Handel, the under 42kg Welsh National Judo champion, has been a member of Welshpool’s thriving AJ Judo Club for six years and is trained by renowned head coach Alan Jones MBE 7th dan, who with his wealth of knowledge and experience along with his wife Sue Jones 4th dan continues to produce champion’s year on year.
Handel has travelled all over the UK and Europe in the last 12 months, taking medals at national and international events and is already planning ahead for competitions coming up in the new year.
