Gresford Athletic 1 Penrhyncoch 1
PENRHYNCOCH’S long wait for a league win continued as Gresford Athletic hit back for a point at Clappers Lane.
A tight first-half with few openings was finally brought to life when Sion James headed the Roosters into a 32nd minute lead from Antonio Corbisiero’s corner to end a three game goal drought.
James almost doubled his tally with another header only to be denied by a point blank save from goalkeeper Ben Jones.
However Gresford remained a threat and were back on terms early in the second-half when goalkeeper Lee Jenkins adjudged to have impeded Jake Eyre who converted the resulting penalty.
Both sides could have snatched glory with Josh Shaw firing wide for the Roosters before the home side came within a whisker of a last gasp winner only for Jack Jones’ header to rattle the bar.
PENRHYNCOCH: Jenkins, E Evans, J Foligno, S James, Davies, L Lewis, Corbisiero (Mousley 72), O James, Jones, Shaw, J Evans (Brooks 88). Sub: G Lewis
