NEWTOWN celebrated a 9-0 rout over Streetly to kick start their North West Men’s Midland Premier League season.

Town never looked back after Ron Glasson opened the scoring inside the opening five minutes.

Joe Baxter soon doubled the Welsh side’s advantage before a Dave Hamer double extended Town’s interval lead.

Streetly enjoyed their best spell of the game after the break but the home rearguard, marshalled by Tudor Jones, ensured Town rode out the storm.

Further goals from Andy Denham, Aaden O’Regan and Oscar Crutchley sealed the points before a double from Hamer took his tally to four and completed a resounding victory.

Meanwhile a Jacqui Loxam double inspired Newtown to a 3-0 win at Dysynni in the North Wales Women’s League with Sian Griffiths completing the scoring for Town.

Llanfair Caereinion celebrated a 3-0 win at Pwllheli to maintain their excellent season.

Elsewhere Presteigne went down to a 4-0 defeat at Howardians in Premier League Two of the South Wales Women’s League while Radnor sealed a comfortable 3-0 derby win at Kington in division one with a Rhian Farmer double and Zoe Zembruski strike ensuring the Goats remained on course for a promotion challenge.
