Penrhyncoch 0 Holyhead Hotspur 0

PENRHYNCOCH had to be content with a point after being held to a frustrating stalemate at home to basement side Holyhead Hotspur.

Manager Gari Lewis’ warning of the threat of Mel McGinness was underlined as early as the seventh minute when the Spurs playmaker headed Dean Garmey’s right wing cross over the bar.

Marc Evans’ 20 yard free-kick also rattled the woodwork for Spurs before Penrhyn were jolted into life with Josh Shaw heading wide and Luke Sherbon testing goalkeeper Carl Jones.

The Roosters ended the half on top with Liam Lewis also going close.

Penrhyn were fortunate to avoid being reduced to 10 men early in the second-half with Sherbon escaping with a caution after a two footed lunge on Garmey.

The home side should have led soon after when Jones fumbled a cross from Cledan Davies into the path of Lewis whose goalbound shot was blocked on the line by Rhys Brown.

However Penrhyn hopes were dealt a blow with 13 minutes remaining with Steffan Davies earning a straight red card after an altercation with Spurs goalkeeper Jones.

Holyhead laid siege for the rest of the game with Tom Carek’s acrobatic effort and Dan McGinness failing to test home goalkeeper Lee Jenkins.
