BISHOPS Castle Town has pressed ahead with plans to develop their Community Centre Field facilities.

The JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League club is planning to develop changing rooms, toilets and communal areas for post match activities with the Football Federation agreeing a principal £60,000 grant.

Bishops Castle Town Council has also donated £1,000 with the club working on fundraising activities to raise a further £50,000.

Project manager Bill Naden has been joined by Matt Mellor, Grant Perry, Lee Davies and Ryan Davis in forming a committee to lead the project.

The club has agreed a provisional agreement with Shropshire Council for a lease on the football pitch and future site of the changing rooms and car park through a community asset transfer while AJB Design and Build has designed the new facilities.

Club spokesman Lee Davies said: “We’re all committed to develop our younger generations and offer them a safe place to develop new skills and ultimately bring people together. We feel closer to achieving this than ever.
