MAESYRHANDIR Football Club has confirmed a joint management team to revive their J T Hughes Montgomeryshire League season.

Craig McCarty and Darren Rogers have taken over the helm of the Newtown club and will be assisted by player coach Joe Evans in attempting to steer the Purples up the Honda Division One table.

Rogers has previously coached the Newtown Whitestars junior set-up whole also coaching at Newtown Boxing Club.

McCarty and Rogers succeed Gary Jones who was joined by joint-manager Jake Baker in departing for MMP-NL Mid Wales League One side Churchstoke last month.

Key players Nathan Rogers, Rob Harvey and Liam Andrews also followed Jones and Baker to Camlad Park.

Since the club has been run by ex-Llanidloes Town striker Evans with McCarty and Rogers joining the Purples earlier in the month.

The Purples have strengthened with Dray Rogers, Kieran Stacey, Alex Wilson, Paul Dragoon and Darren Rogers signing while Liam Davies arrives from Llanidloes Town and Connor Stacey from Caersws

Evans said: “We are looking forward to the rest of the season. I think if we are more patient we will start winning games again.”

Maesyrhandir start their MP Foulkes Montgomeryshire Cup adventure at Dyffryn Banw on Sunday with the Newtown side aiming to complete an upset against the MMP-NL Mid Wales League Two side.

Meanwhile Newtown Wanderers welcome Llanwddyn to Trehafren Field with Leon Williams’ men aiming to maintain their Mitsubishi Division Two promotion push at the expense of the Lakesiders.

With Newtown not in action this weekend it is hoped Robins supporters still keen for a football fix venture to Trehafren Field and cheer on the Black and Ambers who are striving to join Maesyrhandir in Honda Division One following a bright start to the season.
