BUILTH Wells claimed a hard fought 26-14 win at Newtown in a youth friendly on Saturday.

The young Bulls led early when Ryan Jones broke from a ruck to offload to centre Evan Lee to cross for a try, converted by Steffan Towns.

Town were on the backfoot from the re-start as Builth surged forward for wing Will Deakins to go over and Towns to add his second conversion.

Builth’s dominance yielded a third try soon after with second row Prys Eckley crossing for Towns to convert as the visitors opened a 21 point lead.

Newtown rallied and hit back before the break with scrum-half Owen Randell peeling away from the blindside of a scrum to geed fly-half Nathan Jenkins to cross.

Newtown dominated the second-half with pressure leading to a try from Randell with Rhys Morris kicking his second conversion of the day.

The home side were in the ascendancy but Builth had the final say with hooker Dylan Williams crossing for a decisive fourth try.
