BERRIEW manager Dave Jones has heaped praise on his side following the end of their JD Welsh Cup adventure.

The MMP-NL Mid Wales League One side handed Huws Gray Alliance side and recent winners Prestatyn Town a fright before succumbing to a 6-3 defeat last week.

A Joe Haycock double and Richard Davies strike ensured the Rhiewsiders always in contention at Bastion Road with the hosts completing a flattering margin of victory with two injury time goals.

Jones hoped the performance would provide the belief within his squad to go on and challenge for honours this season.

“Overall I am proud of the way we played and some of our football was fantastic,” said Jones. “Speaking to some of their fans and staff I think Prestatyn know they dodged a bullet on Saturday and on another day we would have won.

“As frustrating as it was to lose we must take the positives out of it and take confidence into the league and other cup competitions that we feel we can win.”
