Guilsfield 4

Nantlle Vale 3

GUILSFIELD staged a second-half fightback to see off a spirited Nantlle Vale and book their place in the third round of the JD Welsh Cup.

The Welsh Alliance side were cheered on by their vociferous travelling support from Llyn peninsula who were sent into rapture as Gerwyn Williams opened the scoring inside the opening 10 minutes.

The Guils toiled but were further punished on 34 minutes with Rhys Williams doubling the visitors lead.

The home side were a different side after the break and an intense period of pressure at the start of the second-half led to Andy Ford lashing home on 51 minutes.

Vale tired and the Guils were back on terms on 66 minutes with Robbie James steering home Adam Jenkins’ corner.

However Vale were back in front just three minutes later when Chris Cathrall’s attempted clearance deflected off Dan Evans and into the net.

Guilsfield responded and with eight minutes remaining Callum Bromley headed his side back on terms.

With the tie heading to extra-time Jenkins was tripped in the area with Jack Harris stepping up to give his side the lead for the first time in the tie and seal glory.
