Prestatyn Town 6 Berriew 3
BERRIEW played their part in a JD Welsh Cup classic before bowing out to Prestatyn Town in a nine goal thriller.
The MMP-NL Mid Wales League One side took a shock lead with Joe Haycock latching onto Craig Pearce’s throughball to fire home a 14th minute opener.
The Seasiders ralled with captain Alex Jones netting a quick fire brace before Oliver Buckley fired home from distance on 30 minutes.
Berriew remained in the hunt with Charlie Humphreys and Richard Davies denied by the woodwork before Haycock completed his brace early in the second-half.
Berriew were level soon on the hour with Humphreys releasing Haycock to cross for Davies to volley home.
Berriew could have regained the lead with quarter of an hour remaining only for Marc Jones to be crash his penalty against the post after Davies was fouled in the area.
Prestatyn heeded the warning and regained the lead with a penalty of their own as Jones completed his hat-trick moments later before the Huws Gray Alliance side completed a flattering score line with goals from Warren Adams and Dan Roberts late on.
BERRIEW: Edkins, G Davies, Pearce, Cook, Jones, Mitten, Rogers, Watkins, R Davies, Haycock, Humphreys. Subs: Hughes, Greatorex, Gittins, Matisse.
