RADNOR Valley manager Paul Morgan praised his players after making history in the first round JD Welsh Cup last week.

Despite a 2-1 defeat the visit of South Wales League One side Goytre the Goats manager was delighted with his side’s efforts in their Welsh Cup debut campaign.

Morgan said: “The way I have looked at it this is there are only two negatives to take from the game. The first is the result and the second not finishing our half chances.

“The rest of the day was positives for us even though the lads were very disappointed at the end.”

The Monmouthshire side became the highest graded side to ever visit School Lane with Morgan praising club officials for ensuring their facilities passed Welsh Cup criteria as the club continues to punch above its weight

“We more than matched them for the entire game and only switched off on two occasions which cost us when you are playing a top side and miss your chances.”

Morgan and his young squad now turn their attention back to the MMP-NL Mid Wales League One campaign and the visit of Tywyn Bryncrug.

“It’s all about our reaction against Tywyn,” said Morgan. “We cannot go into that feeling sorry for ourselves. We must come back stronger and hopefully push on.”
