BERRIEW manager David Jones will look to keep his side grounded following last week’s Welsh Cup heroics ahead of Saturday Welsh Trophy clash at Carno.

The Rhiewsiders upset the odds by knocking out Huws Gray Alliance side Penrhyncoch last week and travel to Ty Brith with confidence high.

Jones said: “We are looking to build on last weekend’s very good performance against Penrhyncoch and we are keen to progress to the next round.

“We feel the trophy is a competition we can go far in this season with a bit of luck along the way.”

Berriew welcome back defender Drew Cook but remain without Charlie Humphreys and George Mitten.

Meanwhile Caersws and Llanfair United bid to carry their Welsh Cup form into the trophy with the MMP-NL Mid Wales League One rivals meeting at the Recreation Ground.

The tie also pits Caersws manager Mark Griffiths against his hometown club who are likely to include brother Paul in their squad.

Four Crosses welcome Machynlleth for the second week in a row having met MMP-NL Mid Wales League Two last week.

Crosses won last week’s dress rehearsal and will go into the tie as favourites.

Gary Jones will bid to galvanise his Churchstoke side with the visit of Bow Street while Llansantffraid entertain Welsh Alliance One side Mynydd Llandegai.

Mid Wales interest in the trophy is completed by Llanidloes Town who make the long trip into the unknown to face Swansea League side Ynystawe Athletic.
