LLANDRINDOD Wells pushed South Wales League Two side Aberbargoed Buds to the limit before exiting the cup 4-3 on penalties at Broadway.

Corin Jones fired the hosts ahead with a long range effort before the Gwent side hit back with Elliott Williams firing a late equaliser to force extra-time.

With no further scoring it was left to Mark Snowdon to convert the decisive penalty from the resulting shoot out to end the Spamen’s cup adventure and seal the Buds progress.

Radnor Valley’s cup dream also ended with two goals from Lewis Sommers just enough to seal a 2-1 win for South Wales League One side Goytre while Liam Jones set-up a tense finale at School Lane only for his 75th minute free-kick to prove consolation.

Llanidloes Town were brought back to earth following the previous week’s derby win at Caersws with a 2-1 defeat at home to South Wales League One side Pontypridd Town.

Goals from Luke Gullick and Matthew Hibbs proved just enough for the visitors with Llion Jenkins reducing the arrears.

Borth United also bowed out with their heads held high with a 2-0 defeat at North Wales Alliance side Llangefni Town.

The clash represented the biggest in Borth’s history with the Magpies matching their higher ranked hosts only for goals from Alan Owen and Cai Powell-Roberts to seal the islanders win.

Meanwhile Dolgellau Athletic’s cup adventure ended with a 7-1 defeat at Wrexham League side Cefn Albion on Friday night.

Alex Williams starred with a hat-trick while Nick Jones added a brace with Callum Taylor and Jimmy Jones also netting while Darrell Johns reduced the arrears for the Wasps.

Llanrhaeadr’s return to Tanllan could not inspire the home side in a 2-1 defeat to Flint Town United in an all Huws Gray Alliance clash.

A Myles Hart strike separated the sides at the break before Richie Foulkes doubled the Silkmen’s lead from the penalty spot on the hour.

Iain Edmunds reduced the arrears with a penalty five minutes from time but it was not enough as Flint held out to claim a second round ticket.

Elsewhere Guilsfield were made to toil before securing their name in the hat for the second round with an early strike from Chris Cathrall and late penalty from Jack Harris completing a 2-0 win at home to Wrexham League side Rhostyllen.

Llanfair United prevailed in a thrilling 3-2 victory at Wrexham League side Hawarden Rangers.

Paul Griffiths and Ryan McVeagh goals gave United the early advantage before Mark Richards denied Nick Henderson from the penalty spot.

Rangers hit back after the break with Tom Bridges reducing the arrears before Henderson atoned from the spot.

However United were not to be denied with Josh Astley lobbing home the winner from 25 yards to seal his side’s passage.

Elsewhere Caersws staged a dramatic fightback to stun Holywell Town with a 3-2 extra-time win at the Recreation Ground.

Shaun Tuck and Steve Lewis were on target to give the Wellmen the lead before home goalkeeper Luke Evans denied Sam Jones from the spot.

The Bluebirds were galvanised with Elliot Jones reducing the arrears before Ryan Davies snatched a last gasp leveller to force extra-time with Josh Jones scrambling his side’s winner.

Berriew complete Mid Wales interest in the second round draw after a thrilling 5-4 shoot out win at home to 10 man Penrhyncoch.

Goalkeeper Ollie Farebrother saw red for the Roosters early on with Berriew capitalising as George Davies and Joe Haycock struck.

Penrhyn rallied with Luke Sherbon and Ieuan Brooks on target to force extra-time and penalties before the hosts won the day courtesy of Harry Davies’ spot kick.
