Denbigh Town 3 Guilsfield 4

GUILSFIELD survived a late scare to toast glory in a seven goal thriller at Denbigh Town.

The hosts carved a 15th minute lead when Mark Roberts slid a shot past ex-Denbigh goalkeeper Mike Jones.

Guilsfield went close to levelling with Steve Blenkinsop and Stuart Rogers testing home goalkeeper Craig Vernon before the pressure told just before the break with Blenkinsop steering home Adam Jenkins’ free-kick.

Blenkinsop returned the favour to release Jenkins to slot Guilsfield ahead early in the second-half.

Guilsfield looked to have sealed victory with two goals in as many minutes with substitute Jack Harris converting a 77th minute penalty for handball before Chris Cathrall’s shot was deflected into his own net by Miles Todd two minutes later.

The home side rallied and reduced the arrears with a late headed brace from Tony Davies to set-up a tense finale but Guilsfield held firm.

GUILSFIELD: Jones, Bromley, Parry (Cathrall), Rogers, James, Litchfield, Jenkins, Ford, Blenkinsop (Weetman), Clifton (Harris), Richards. Sub: Leonard.
