CHAZ Davies heads to Argentina for the penultimate round of the 2018 World Superbike Championships (WSBK) this weekend.

With the title already won by Kawasaki’s Jon Rea the Aruba.it Racing-Ducati star will be gunning for points to secure second place in the championship.

The Presteigne star claimed a place on the podium at Magny Cours in France in France last month.

Davies will look for a repeat at the newly built Villicum circuit near San Juan which was was recently completed and will be used for the first time this weekend.

Davies sits in second place in the championship with 335 points and relished the new challenge presented by the track.

Davies said: “It feels good to head to Argentina, it’s always exciting to get out of our reach and go to new tracks on the calendar, especially in a place we’ve never been before. T

“The track looks quite fun to ride, but we need to spin a few laps first.

“Its anti-clockwise layout seems also physically ideal, given the conditions of my right shoulder but we just have to wait and see.”

Davies has endured a testing campaign with his championship bid undermined by a shoulder injury.

The 31 year old goes into the weekend needing just one more win to notch his 30th WSBK victory and 80th podium finish.

Davies said: “ I tried to give the shoulder time to recover in between races while also keeping it active and well stretched.

“We’ve been learning a bit in the last couple of races and we’ll try to translate it into this new challenge.

“I’m really looking forward to see the circuit.”
