Carmarthen Town 0 TNS 3

TNS returned to form following their shock defeat in the capital the previous week with a comfortable win at Carmarthen Town.

The home side looked to emulate Cardiff Metropolitan by refusing to allow TNS to settle early on with Greg Walters also stinging the palms of goalkeeper Paul Harrison from 25 yards early on.

However TNS were soon dominating possession and on 28 minutes Jamie Mullan broke through clear on goal only to be denied by a last ditch tackle from Tyrell Webbe.

It was the best TNS could muster in a disappointing half as Carmarthen’s resolute defending ensured the visitors frustrated.

The frustration lasted just four second-half minutes when Jon Routledge’s cross failed to be cleared by the home defence for Mullan to volley home from six yards.

The Saints could not put the game to bed as Carmarthen continued to hold their own.

With 20 minutes remaining Sean Hanbury forced Harrison into a point blank save to remind the Saints the contest not yet over.

However TNS heeded the warning and moments later Greg Draper marked his first start of the season by capitalising on a lapse in midfield to race through and slot past goalkeeper Lee Idzi.

The Saints wrapped up the spoils in injury time with substitute Kurtis Byrne cleverly slotting home from a tight angle after latching onto Tom Holland’s throughball.

TNS: Harrison, Spender, Nembhard, Cabango, Marriott, Holland, Edwards (Byrne 78), Routledge, Mullan, Draper (Seargeant 87), Brobbel (Cieslewicz 87).
