LLANIDLOES Town held their nerve to overcome Welshpool Town on penalties following a 3-3 thriller at Maesydre to progress to the first round of the JD Welsh Cup.

The Daffodils had to do things the hard way after Josh Hartrick saw red after 30 minutes following two early cautions.

Will Thomas netted twice against his former club with Ian Probert also on target for the hosts but goals from Peter Rees, Matt Savage and Llion Jenkins ensured the Daffodils took the tie to extra-time before prevailing 5-4 on penalties.

Borth United completed an upset with goals from Justin Quinn and Ryan Davies cancelling a Tom Williams strike in a 2-1 win at Bow Street.

Phil Jones starred with four goals as Caersws strolled to an 8-0 win over Tywyn Bryncrug at the Recreation Ground.

Mark Edmondson also helped himself to a hat-trick against his former club with Charlie Gordon completing the rout.

A Tomos Williams hat-trick ensured Berriew’s place in the first round with a 5-2 win at home to Builth Wells with Charlie Humphreys and Harry Watkins also on target while Josh Price netted twice in reply for the Bulls.

Joel Evans and Joe Cooper goals ended Abermule’s cup adventure as Brecon Corinthians progressed 2-0 at Rich Field.

Elsewhere a Joey Price double and strikes from Elliot Williams and Matt Croose earned Radnor Valley a 4-0 win over Carno in their first ever Welsh Cup tie.

Josh Astley also maintained his fine early season form with a brace in Llanfair United’s 5-2 win at home to Aberaeron,

Tom Gregory, Karl Seliaerts and Paul Griffiths completed United’s tally with Steffan Gittins netting twice in reply for the Seasiders.

Elsewhere a Ryan Sims double led Llandrindod Wells to a 4-2 win at home to Four Crosses with Gareth Jones and Ashley Jones strikes cancelling out replies from Jamie Evans and Simon Griffiths.

Dolgellau Athletic prevailed 2-1 derby winners at Machynlleth with Darrell Johns and David Edwards goals cancelling a reply from Paul Jones.
