NEWTOWN Wanderers player Dalian Cluskey made a lifelong commitment to his beloved club while also raising funds with a sponsored tattoo.

Cluskey had the club crest inked onto his leg by Newtown artist Gavin Steele after raising £500 for club funds through donations from the local community.

Club spokesman Lee Stephens said: “The club are delighted with Dalian’s commitment.

“Dalian has a few dodgy tattoos but even this was a surprise when he came to the committee with this fund raising idea.

“Dalian has also started coaching at Newtown Whitestars and we know he’ll be fully committed to that role as he is to playing for Wanderers.”

The club invites existing and new supporters to their games this season with the club using the Trehafren Field and Newtown Football Club’s Latham Park as base.

Meanwhile Cluskey was part of the Wanderers side to claim a 3-3 draw at Welshpool Town Reserves in Mitsubishi Division Two of the J T Hughes Montgomeryshire League in midweek.

Player-manager Leon Williams and Dave Ash struck for the Black and Ambers with an own goal completing their tally while Pool claimed a point in testing conditions with goals from Phil Turnbull, Joe Cadwallader and Iwan Walsh.
