Alberbury 188-4 beat Forton 184-8 by six wickets
CHARLES Bourne carried his bat with an unbeaten 68 as Alberbury ended their season on a high with a six wicket win at home to Forton.
The visitors laid the foundations with a strong opening stand between Ross Barton and Harry Kenyon before the latter fell to Andy Holloway (3-17) for 50.
Myles Thomas (3-30) destroyed the middle order before Barton was caught by James Wynne off Neil Savage (1-31) for a top scoring 76 to leave Forton to defend 184-8.
Alberbury lost opener Mike Crawshaw cheaply in reply, caught by Jonathan Sisson off Kenyon (1-37) for a duck.
However Bourne was joined by Mark Jones in a match defining second wicket stand to work the scoreboard and push the home side toward their target.
Jones posted 55 before falling to Ashley Gillum who completed his 2-43 with the wicket of Dan Leach (7).
Andrew Wynne also departed, caught by Will Poultney off Adam Goulding (1-37) for 15 before Bourne was joined by James Harrap for the fifth wicket.
The duo combined superbly with Bourne (68no) and Harrap (18no) steering their side to 188-4 and final day glory in the 36th over to cement a fifth placed finish.
