WELSHPOOL Cricket Club have been crowned Henshalls Shropshire Under 13s League champions.

Russell Cadwallader’s side beat Church Stretton by six wickets for captain Harry Bowen to lift the silverware for the first time in the club’s history.

Pool restricted Church Stretton to just 88 to chase with Sam Cadwallader (20) and Finley Hunter (17) both making vital knocks before Harvey Gill pushed Pool over the line for victory and ensure his side went home kings of Shropshire.

Proud coach Russell Cadwallader heaped praise on the youngsters following a successful campaign and hoped each would continue their development as emerging cricket talents for the club and one day advance to the senior ranks.

“The club are delighted for the boys,” said Cadwallader.

“They performed well all season against some very good sides and their success is a reflection of the commitment they have shown to their cricket.

“This league title is well deserved.”
