LLANFAIR United marked their home debut with an 8-2 thumping of Prestatyn Town in division one of the North Wales Women’s League.

United never looked back after Mary Griffiths forced a visiting defender to put through her own net and had the game seemingly wrapped up by half-time thanks to a Sarah Ellis brace before Griffiths struck to open her account for the day.

Prestatyn rallied with two quickfire goals early in the second-half before United responded with Gemma Jones completing a 14 minute hat-trick to ensure United the spoils.

Liann Richards completed the scoring following a surging run in the final seconds to maintain United’s strong start to the season and ensure the Mid Wales side set the pace at the top of the table.

Meanwhile the North Wales Women’s League has suffered its first resignation of the season with Bala Town pulling out of the newly created second division just two weeks into the season.
