Guilsfield 151-9 drew with Harcourt 160-7

GUILSFIELD had to be content with a draw in an entertaining end of season clash at Harcourt.

Duncan Todd (3-48) restricted the home side with the key wickets of Rick Jarrett, caught by Gary Lewis for 35 with opener Andrew Sutton caught by Andy Pugh for 11 and Steve Jones dislodged for just four.

Gary Griffiths (1-40) celebrated the removal of Darren Evason, stumped by Dave Lewis for a top scoring 39 while Dave Court (2-21) claimed Sam Davies caught by Billy West for 13 while Mike Hughes was stumped by Lewis for 18 to leave Mike Ramsey (10no) and Harcourt defending 160-7.

The Guils suffered a top order wobble in reply with opener Todd caught by Andrew Middleton off Jarrett for five with Adam Castell and Pugh both falling for ducks.

Surviving opener Mike Harris looked to revive the order alongside Dave Lewis only to fall to Sam Davies (1-18) for 15.

Lewis was caught by Evason off Jarrett for 16 before Billy West and Griffiths revived the middle order.

The middle order duo changed the fate of the game before West fell to Ramsey (1-37) for 37 and Griffiths was caught by Andrew Middleton off Jarrett (4-31) for a top scoring 38.

Andy Heighway (2-23) harassed the Guils tail end with Dave Williams caught by Middleton for two before Court fell for four.

However the Guils were not to be denied with Gary Lewis digging in for the final wicket to ensure his side ended on 151-9 and claimed a deserved 10 point haul for their endeavour.

The Guils end their campaign at home to Quayside on Saturday knowing victory could be enough to snatch third place from Column should the Shrewsbury side slip up at Corvedale.
