Newtown 170 all out lost to St Georges 245-9 by 75 runs
A CAREER best 7-58 from Bryant Galpin failed to help Newtown avoid a crushing 75 run defeat at St Georges.
Gareth Hughes (83) and Sam Morgan (60) laid the foundations for the hosts before Chris Miller (51) steered his side to a commanding 245-9 to defend despite the best efforts of Galpin with John Anthony (2-55) in support.
Tom Anderson led Newtown’s reply before departing to Neil Davies for a top scoring 68.
Davies (6-23) swept through the Town middle and tail end with Anthony caught by Martin Delaney for 22 while Jack Morris was caught by Miller off Amer Hussain (2-48) for 25.
Jack Williams bravely led last wicket resistance to end 14no with Newtown all out for 170 in the 38th over of their reply.
Town remain deep in the relegation zone with just two games left of the season with defeat this weekend fatal to their Premier League survival hopes.
