Holywell Town 2 Llanrhaeadr 1

LLANRHAEADR were punished twice in as many minutes as Sam Jones fired Holywell Town to victory at Halkyn Road.

An even first-half saw Matt Kendricks head over with Jones twice going close from distance while at the other end Marc Griffiths tested home goalkeeper Andy Metcalf.

Both sides went close at the end of the half with Connor Littler forcing a superb save from goalkeeper Connor Lee while Khyam Wytton flashed a headed effort inches wide at the other end while Griffiths was once again denied by Metcalf.

However Holywell started the second-half brightly and led inside the opening few minutes with Jones firing home a free-kick from the edge of the area.

Just seconds later Damien Ketley was tripped in the area with Jones completing his brace from the resulting penalty.

The villagers were back in the game on the hour with Wytton fouled in the area by Matt Harvey for Iwan Matthews to slot home from the spot.

Llanrhaeadr dominated the remainder of the contest with Tom Bailey’s goalbound headed effort cleared off the line by Matthew Cole before Dan Graham was denied a late equaliser with Metcalf producing a point blank save to ensure the villagers left empty handed.
