JACK Weaver completed Abermule’s fightback in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Rhayader Town in the first qualifying round of the JD Welsh Cup.

Goals from Taylor Wozencraft and Jamie Evans gave the Red Kites the lead only for Weaver and veteran Warren Sherwood to restore parity before Weaver completed his brace with two minutes remaining as the villagers completed their fightback.

Four Crosses marched into the next round with a comfortable 5-0 win at home to Waterloo Rovers with Jake Edwards and Simon Griffiths sharing the limelight with doubles while Jordan Gerrard completed the scoring.

Borth United progressed with a 2-0 win at home to Presteigne with Ryan Davies opening the scoring with a sensational 40 yard lob before Guto Huws ensured the Magpies in the draw for the next round.

Dolgellau Athletic also sealed their progress with David Edwards netting twice in a 5-2 win at home to managerless Churchstoke.

Further goals from Jon Sutton, Aaron Burrough and Kieran Jones ensured replies from Kieran Mulloch and Lee Grady were consolations for Churchstoke.

Machynlleth toasted a 3-2 win at Montgomery Town with Drew Page starring with a brace while Sion Jones also struck a penalty with the home side remaining in contention throughout thanks to a double from Tom Evans.

Tom Bethel proved the difference as Builth Wells celebrated a 3-1 win at Llansantffraid Village with Mark Jones also netting to cancel a reply from Bailey Austin.

Meanwhile Brecon Northcote crashed out to South Wales League Three side Newport City with Kieran Lush netting a hat-trick while Patrick Pope added a brace and James Hall completed a 5-0 victory.
