Penrhyncoch 1 Flint Town Utd 0
LIAM Lewis proved the match winner as Penrhyncoch claimed the scalp of Flint Town United at Cae Baker on Saturday.
Once again the Roosters saw their hard work rewarded having taken the game to the Deesiders from the first whistle.
Penrhyn had to ride out an early storm as Flint threatened with goalkeeper Ollie Fairbrother maintaining his excellent start to the campaign with saves to deny Kyle Smyth while Aliei Sheriff also fired wide.
The home side threatened with Tom Evans and Sion James trying their luck but were dealt a blow with the loss of midfielder Luke Sherbon to injury on half-time.
Penrhyn began the second-half brightly and led on 52 minutes with Lewis seizing upon Mike Williams’ poor headed clearance to slot past goalkeeper Aaron Jones.
Flint rallied but found James and Jon Foligno in uncompromising mood at the heart of the home defence while a rare opening for the visitors saw Jack Lewis drag a shot across the face of goal with 10 minutes remaining.
PENRHYNCOCH: Fairbrother, L James, E Evans, S James, Foligno, Jones, Sherbon (Corbisiero 43), Doherty (Shaw 85), Lewis, Williams. Subs; R Davies, Brookes, C Davies
