Newtown 50 all out lost to Bomere Heath 133 all out by 83 runs
RELEGATION clouds gathered over the Recreation Ground following an 83 run defeat at home to Bomere Heath.
Newtown enjoyed a dream start with Dave Anthony and Tom Anderson tearing through Heath’s top order and reducing the visitors to just 27-5.
Anderson snared opener Henry Preece LBW for a duck before completing his 2-32 with Harry Bolland caught behind by Sam Cooke for five.
Cooke also caught Rob Dean (12) and Matt Jones (1) before Anderson caught Henry Dawson off Anthony for eight to leave Heath wobbling on 27-5.
Darren Nudds joined Toby Jones in a 52 run sixth wicket stand to steady the Heath ship before departing to Ally Laird for 11.
Jones was joined by Chris Stevens in adding 18 for the seventh wicket beforefalling to Laird for a top scoring half century.
Laird (4-32) reduced Heath to 99-9 before Andrew Oliver (10no) joined Stevens in a dogged 34 run last wicket stand to push their side to 133 when the latter fell to Anthony (4-43) for 38.
Newtown suffered a total collapse in reply as Stevens (5-21) and Tom Ellis (4-25) tore through the home order.
Jack Morris was the stand out performer, top scoring with a knock of of 21 as Newtown were skittled for 50 in the 23rd over.
