Welshpool 129 all out lost to Wroxeter 131-8 by two wickets
WELSHPOOL handed Wroxeter a fright before succumbing to a two wicket defeat at Wroxeter.
Opener Paul Chapman watched as the rest of the top order fell cheaply before becoming Charles Haylett’s (2-15) second victim of the day, bowled for 20.
Russell Cadwallader and Dan Pritchard offered middle order resolve before the latter was snared LBW by Tim Fern for 14.
Dan Harris (2-23) and Ian Ramsay (2-30) maintained pressure on the tail end with Jon Harris (2-7) removing Cadwallader, caught by Fern for a top scoring 38 to leave Pool to defend just 129.
Robert Anderson (4-29) led Pool’s attack in reply with support from Tom Bowen (1-24) seeing Wroxeter on the ropes.
James Breese (1-36) snared Haylett LBW for 26 while also catching Matthew Whitehouse off Joe Monk (1-23) for 27 to give Pool hope of a completing an unlikely victory.
Jon Harris was also caught by Rob Rudge off Chapman (1-10) as Pool looked to finish the job.
However Ramsay (26no) was joined by Fern in defending the ninth wicket and guide Wroxeter to a two wicket win in the 33rd over.
