Penrhyncoch 0 Porthmadog 2
PENRHYNCOCH conceded two goals in as many first-half minutes in an opening day defeat at the hands of Porthmadog.
The North Wales side started brightly with Jay Gibbs twice going close from distance while Gruff Williams rocked the woodwork.
The pressure told on 30 minutes with home defender Sion James deflecting Sion Edwards’ corner into his own net.
Just two minutes later Ceri James opened the home defence with his cross headed home by Julian Williams.
Porthmadog could have sealed the points by half-time only for Edwards to be denied by the bar.
Gibbs once again skimmed the woodwork with a free-kick early in the second-half.
Penrhyn came into the game with Cledan Davies and Jonny Evans both forcing Porthmadog goalkeeper Paul Pritchard into action but the damage was already done as the Roosters succumbed to defeat.
