TOMI Bowen starred for Powys at the Welsh Schools Golf Championship held at Llanwern Golf Club earlier this month.
The Llanfair Caereinion High School student was presented with the Ian Woosnam Trophy for the best 36 holes gross score and presented his shield by Gareth Oldham, chairman of the Powys Schools Golf Association (PSGA).
Bowen (4) completed rounds of 76 and 78 to end with 154 and end the championship as Powys’ top ranked golfer with a number of impressive performances.
Also in action for Powys was Aaron Evans (7) of Builth Wells with 165 and the Llandrindod Wells duo of Zak Baker (9) and Matthew Duggan (10) who compiled scores of 166 and 171
Llanidloes’ Aled Lewis (14) ended with a score 189 while Builth Wells’ Grace Edwards (11) ended with a three under par 168.
Spokesperson Katie Hamer said: “The players all did well on a hot day in South Wales.
“It was a 36 holes gross competition so it was a good experience and the parental support was fantastic.”
