Montgomery 179-6 beat Wheaton Aston 83 all out by 96 runs

A CENTURY partnership between Aaron Ruff-Cock and Tim Davies saw Montgomery recover from a poor start to beat Wheaton Aston by 96 runs.

With Thomas Corfield, Ieuan Griffiths and Andrew Barker falling for single figures Montgomery found themselves 23-3.

However a well played 60 from Ruff-Cock and an unbeaten 65 from Davies saw the Lymore club recover to 179-6 to defend.

In reply, Montgomery dismissed Wheaton Aston for 83 in the 33rd over with Luke Blakemore (14) top scoring.

Meanwhile the wickets were shared between Eddie Bennett (3-21), Alex Bromley (3-27), Ross Wilkinson (2-11) and Roman Currie-Jordan (2-5).

With two wickets it marked a dream debut for Wilkinson who was named man of the match for his efforts.

Vice captain Aaron Ruff-Cock said: “Ross put in an excellent performance in the field and when given the ball he didn’t dissapoint. He took the only bowled wicket of the day and finished with two victims to his name.”
