MONTGOMERY IIs remained rooted to the foot of the first division of the Henshalls Reserve League following a 107 run thrashing at the hands of St Georges IVs.

Simon Chesters (65) led the Saints to 186-8 to defend with support from Allan Myatt (20), Matthew Chesters (19) and Alex Johnson (17) while Keith Griffiths (2-18) and David Jones (2-37) led the home attack.

Myatt (4-27) dominated in reply while Sam Chambers included Rob Yewdall (10) in his 2-32.

Naz Akhtar (3-7) also left his mark before the defiant David Jones was bowled for a top scoring 20 by Corey Davies (1-5) to complete Monty’s collapse for 79 in the 21st over.

Meanwhile Alberbury IIs slipped to a two wicket defeat in a high scoring encounter at home to Knockin IIs.

Alex Hughes (49), James Hearle (41), Jonathan Green (29), Sahim Zaza (21) and Nick Williams (23no) defied Jon Evans (2-47), Joseph Wilkinson (2-30) and Paul Holyoake (2-30) to guide the hosts to 226-8 to defend.

Bluey Thomas (62) and Mike Gray (65) laid solid foundations for Knockin in reply and despite the best efforts of Steve Jarrett (6-40) the visitors were steered to 228-8 and glory thanks to an unbroken ninth wicket stand between Joe Kynaston (24no) and Marcus Williams (31no).

Elsewhere Newtown IIs crashed to a heavy 110 run defeat at Ludlow IIs in division two.

Jonathon Davies (2-30) led the Town attack but could not prevent Richard Taylor (85no) and David Northwood (44) guiding the hosts to 207-to defend.

Eleanor Taylor (2-22) made her mark early before Ricky Davies was caught by Jack Small off Jayden Burley (2-31) for a top scoring 30.

Richard Taylor (3-5) made light work of the middle order as Rhys Roberts (18) and Davies (10) departed cheaply to complete Town’s collapse for 97.
