TOM Cave missed out on glory at last weekend’s Nicky Grist Rally in Builth Wells.

The Aberdovey ace was joined by James Morgan a Spencer Sport Mitsubishi Mirage R5 which ended second to Matt Edwards/ Darren Garrod in a Ford Fiesta R5.

Welshpool’s Zak Hughes was also in action in the sixth round of the MRF ST Trophy and won the N3 class.

Hughes also set a new high jump record for Fiesta ST in Wales.

Hughes said: "It was a great feeling to finally get to the end of a rally with no issues after the nightmare we’ve had on the last 3 rounds.

"I pushed hard in the afternoon loop, I knew the gap to second wasn’t secure enough. To finish the rally 26th overall is a massive achievement for me and to be 50 seconds clear of the second ST was also a great achievement."

This weekend Aberangell’s Osian Pryce and Llanfyllin co-driver Dale Furniss take centre stage at the Harry Flatters Rally in Epynt.

The rally starts at 8.30am on Sunday and include 11 stages over 70 miles before concluding at around 5pm.
