RHAYADER Rugby Club has rebuilt for the forthcoming season with new 13 signings.

The Rams struggled in division three East D of the Swalec League last season but Dan Davies’ arrival as coach this season has galvanised the club.

Davies arrives at the club from with a wealth of experience with hometown club Llandrindod Wells and managing Builth Wells last season.

The cast of new arrivals is led by South African openside flanker Andre Potgieter while also welcoming back row Nathan Byrne from Abergavenny and centre Dan Bowen from Gwernyfed.

Fly half Matt Boore is joined by centre Dan Oakley in switching from Llandrindod Wells while scrum half Ben Davies arrives from Llanidloes.

Meanwhile centre Stephen Boore will captain the club following his switch from Builth Wells with back row Dexter Evans and hooker Bowen Hamer also arriving from the Bulls.

Wing Aaron Martin and the back row duo of Lewis Prinnie and Paul Griffiths have also committed for the season.

Coach Davies said: “I jumped at the chance to take over at Rhayader as player-coach. This is a fresh start for the club and hope to grow together.

“With the experience in the squad then promotion is definitely on the cards.

“As a club we welcome anyone who is keen to get involved in playing or the club to come to training at 7pm on Thursday nights.”

The Rams open their pre season campaign at home to Newtown on home on August 10.
