ABERYSTWYTH Town won the second annual Central Wales Football Association (CWFA) seven a side women’s tournament in Newtown on Sunday.

Latham Park hosted seven teams from across Wales with the Seasiders coming out on top in the final after beating Welsh Premier side Llandudno on penalties.

Llanidloes Town finished third, just three points behind Llandudno, as the Daffodils looked to rebuild after last season’s tumultuous North Wales Women’s League campaign.

Porth were represented by two sides while Abertysswg and Newtown completed the line-up.

Organiser Naomi Hardman said: “It was great to welcome Abertysswg, a side made up of friends who play the game for fun.

“Hopefully the women’s game grows in Powys in coming years and more clubs run women’s sides.
