TWO sisters from Trewern have won a string of Martial Arts medals at the Kros Brothers British Championships.
Katie Roberts, 12, won second place in the overall ranking at the competition held in Oswestry.
The Welshpool High School pupil won five golds in Grappling, Continuous Sparring, Kata, Martial Arts Demo and Team Kata. She won a further two silver medals in Stick Fighting and Weapons Kata.
Her younger sister Cerys, 7, won three gold medals in Point Sparring, Continuous Sparring and Grappling, and a Stick Fighting silver medal.
It was at a demonstration at Buttington Trewern County Primary School five years ago that Katie first caught the martial arts bug.
Cerys soon joined her and both are taking the national stage by storm.
Proud dad Mark said: "I'm so proud of their dedication and what they've achieved.
"Katie first got involved in martial arts lessons to build her self-confidence and gain self-defence skills. It quickly went from one lesson a week to several at MD Warriors Martial Arts Club in Oswestry."
Katie is hoping to gain more medals when she heads to the British Stick Fighting Championships in October.
Last year, Katie won a gold and silver medal at the WKU European Championships in Germany.
