BUILTH Wells’ Blues Youth Cup dreams ended in semi-final defeat with a 32-5 loss to Treorchy.

Despite dominating first-half possession the young Bulls were unable to penetrate a well organised home defence.

Instead the hosts capitalised on their breaks with a converted try and two penalties

However the damage was done in the second-half with three further converted tries in a devastating 20 minute spell.

Builth found a second wind late on and were rewarded for their endeavour with a consolation try from Greg Morgan.

Coach Richard Lawrence paid tribute to his young charges.

“The Builth coaching staff are extremely proud of the entire squad for their efforts in this cup.

“Thirty eight teams entered and we made it to the last four while claiming some huge scalps on the way.

“We should be celebrating and our performances this season will only make for a stronger more determined effort next season.

“Considering over half the team are still first years its shows great promise for the coming seasons.

“I think with the heat and a long season may have caught up with us on Saturday but we can have no excuses as Treorchy were a class act.”
