LLANSANTFFRAID Village Football Club had double reason to celebrate this week.
The club sealed promotion to the first division of the Spar Mid Wales League, two years after resigning to drop back into the Montgomeryshire League.
Meanwhile the club’s famous Treflan ground, home to Welsh Premier football until 2004, will also host Llanrhaeadr in the Huws Gray Alliance next season.
The two clubs look set to conclude a ground share deal which will allow Llanrhaeadr to make the step up to the second tier.
Saints manager Ray Jones said: “It’s great to be back in Mid Wales League One and it is our aim to ensure we consolidate at that level next season.
“In hindsight we should have battled on at that level two years ago rather than resign and we believe we are back where we belong now.”
Jones fully supported the club’s ground share plans with Llanrhaeadr.
“The clubs have a good relationship and Llanrhaeadr fully deserve to make the step up as champions of Mid Wales,” said Jones. “We welcome all from Llanrhaeadr to Treflan next season.”
Meanwhile Jones is looking to the future.
“I plan to step down this summer and hope we can continue the good work of the last few seasons while also establish a reserve side.”
