Bishops Castle 137-7 beat Hodnet PT 72 all out by 65 runs
RICHARD Powell led Bishops Castle to a 65 run victory at Hodnet as the border club got their second division campaign off to a flyer.
Castle were restricted to just 137-7 to defend after home debutant Matt McMaster (2-4) joined Matt Watkins (2-23) in making light work of the middle order following the departure of openers Richard Plant (50) and Tom Moulder (41).
Plant and Moulder were in impressive form and laid the foundations for Castle before their departure.
Powell (6-22) was joined by Jack Perry (2-27) in terrorising the Hodnet order in reply with the hosts soon reduced to 9-4.
Scott Woodland (14) offered middle order resistance before Richard Langford (2-18) saw off Alex Smith (15) and Chris Stretch (10) to complete Hodnet’s dismissal for 72 in the 29th over and complete Castle’s victory.
