WELSHPOOL High School continues to shine across all sporting disciplines.

As well as being crowned under 18s, under 15s and under 13s boys football county champions several of the school's male and female football stars have won county honours.

The school's boys under 13s side has also been crowned county under 13s champions while the under 13s boys and under 15s boys tennis squads won the county cup and ended runners-up in the North Wales Championships.

The school has dominated the county cross country scene, winning the Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 boys titles while the girls won the Year 7 title with many progressing to win county vests in the national championships in Brecon.

A crop of athletes also represented North Powys in the national indoor championships in Llandrindod Wells.

The school is also home to the Powys Schools gymnastic champion with Year 9 student Joseph Knox crowned the king of the county.

School spokesman Jamie Loxam said: "The school has a proud sporting tradition and it is very pleasing to see the current generation emulating the past success.

"Welshpool High School will continue to take pride in its deserved reputation for excellence in sport."
