AN UP and coming goalkeeper from Powys has been included in the Wales squad for a forthcoming junior football tournament.

Casey Sillitoe from Newtown has been selected by James Rowberry who will take charge of the squad selected to represent Wales in the Victory Shield Tournament that will be held in north Wales.

Sillitoe, the son of ex-Caersws goalkeeper John Sillitoe, is on the books of English Championship League side Stoke City.

Wales kick-off their campaign on Monday, November 6th at Denbigh Town where they will face Northern Ireland (KO 6pm).

Rowberry’s side will return to Denbigh on Wednesday, November 8th where they will host the Republic of Ireland (KO 6pm) before facing Scotland three days later at Colwyn Bay (KO 11am).

The Victory Shield is a prestigious U16 boys tournament held annually and rotated between the four participating countries. Cymru were joint winners of the Shield in 2019 and 2021 and current senior internationals Ethan Ampadu, Neco Williams and Dylan Levitt have all taken part in the competition in previous years.
